Companies will pay for your opinion. Yes there are legitimate paid survey companies who need your opinion and pay you well for 15-20 minutes of your time. When these companies need feedback on a new product line, then that's when your opinion as a consumer is valuable. However, recent check scams and fraud have damaged the reputations in the industry have people running scared and rightly so.

Always know who you are dealing with. If your intuition is telling you to back off then never hand over any personal information that might compromise your privacy. One of the best ways to tell a scam is always check the paid survey company thoroughly by searching for any consumer complaints that may have shown up in search engine results. This may or may not tell the full story of what the complaints were or what really happened but it will give you a better idea of what to look out for.

Now the difference between a good paid survey company and a not so good one is having disclosure statement and terms of conditions. You want to read those as before you decide to pay money. Most programs will charge by the month, but the better companies only charge you a one time processing fee and then that opens the doors for your contacts and surveys.
